On January 4, the Chinese Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Yang Honglin met with the Special Representative of the government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to the European Union, Mr. D.W. Pescod.

  Mr. Pescod briefed H.E. Mr. Yang Honglin about the current situation of economic and trade cooperation between Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia. He denoted that the Saudi economy had witnessed fast development with constant accumulations of financial surpluses in recent years, which would provide tremendous business opportunities for enterprises based in Hong Kong. Therefore, Hong Kong desired to enhance ties and promote mutual cooperation with Saudi Arabia. He also expected some assistance from the Chinese Embassy in this regard.

  H.E. Mr. Yang Honglin extended his gratitude to Mr. Pescod for his briefing. He denoted that the Chinese Embassy here in Riyadh encouraged Hong Kong to further economic and trade relations with Saudi Arabia and would like to exert its endeavors to render necessary assistance.
